this little

fog linen scarf is calling my name.
what i love about it:
- herringbone in a deep gray color
- frayed ends in a deep lavender color
- delicate + masculine = goodness

what i don't love about it:
- $68 price tag. for a scarf? how about $6? or $8?

for those with good taste and a bigger budget, go here.

i really

really would like this throw for my bed. the problem? ruby appropriates everything that is super soft. what can i say. that girl has good taste.available in other colors, but i'm partial to the soft, soothing gray.

find it here. 127 euros. too lazy to do the math.

a bit

preppy for my tastes, but it's hard for me to resist those dachshunds...

see these and even more preppy options here.

so i

went to see an apartment today. this one was great. high ceilings and lots of wooden floors and plenty of small details. i'm just looking for now though, as i'm not thinking to move quite yet. but i do like to see what's out there in my price range. and i have an insatiable curiosity to see how other people decorate their homes.

i already have my eye on one decoration for my new place:

this one is from izola (see here).

these are

without a doubt, too cutesy for me. i can't decide if i'm either a) not cutesy enough, so wearing the shoes would be incongruous, or b) too cutesy already, so wearing the shoes would be overkill.
and yet...i still love them.

sigh. such is fashion.

see more marais shoes here.

oh my

how wonderfully sweet is this small, simple portrait?

i love his outfit and his expression. it actually reminds me of a wonderfully sweet boy i know.

barbara hester is such a lovely artist. these portraits remind me of looking at old family pictures - a glimpse into another time.

see more of her work here.

interesting

article from harvard business review about how mrs. o affects the fashion market.

she's got some serious power.
read the article here.

i have

no complaints about my current bike. a ladies' schwinn deluxe cruiser. emerald green. white metal basket. smooth ride. a beauty to be sure.

but i'm keeping my eyes on this lovely for when i get a full time paying job. nothing flashy, just clean lines and good quality. the new york times has nice things to say about it. see here.

i scored

a lovely little bento box from the thrift store yesterday. it is so. much. nicer. than my gross plastic tupperware. there is something more permanent, more personal, more thought-out and just generally more appealing.

and, while i love my simple, black laquered oval container, i was curious to see what other options there are out there.

i love these subtle, muted colors. i saw a dashing young man on the subway carrying one of these. he looked wonderful.
{available here}

i found this panda box. sweet, but way too cutesy.
{entitled 'happy panda snow day' available here}

i think i would barf after a couple of lunches with him...

to carry sauces (which some may claim are the most important part of any meal) i ordered these little puppies:
animal shaped sauce containers of course. fish and piggies. {95 cents for fifteen of these! ahh. available here} if this doesn't brighten up my days at school/work, i don't know what will.

just

drooling over these gems.

they are all cotton, made from vintage saris, and each one is handstitched. from india. i think that one of these would make a purrrrfect law school graduation gift.

more quilt colors and other droolworthy goodies here.

shut

it down.

forget the pretentious frilly details (sconces and dainty lamps. ughh.) and toss the photograph.

give me some of that rug and that velvet bench.

i love the combination of the navy velvet and the muted creamy green. i would of course, dirty it up a whole bit. walk around with my shoes on and leave my sweater and scarf and probably some crumbs on the seat of the bench.

i saw

a girl wearing these shoes on the subway this morning. i kept eyeing them. they were lovely. i could tell that they were well worn and the wear just made them look even better. the scuffs just added character. when it turned out the girl walked into law school with me, i screwed up the courage to ask her who the designer was.
i then spent a good half hour searching for them online. lucky for me, my interviewing, counseling, & negotiating professor was half an hour late for our class today.

i figure i have a much less likely chance of falling with the wedge heel, no?

{available here}
also in black and a tempting red.

have you

ever taken a short breath in upon looking at a picture? the breath version of a double take.

this lady has loads of charm. and gobs of style. i really love how she's working those pants + ribbed socks + monk strap shoes.

have you

seen this article from the new york times?

if you haven't, check it out here.

sculptor patrick dougherty works with stones, sticks, and other natural elements to create both utilitarian and decorative works.

there is something inherently appealing to me about creating art from nature. i guess because i think that nature is the most beautiful art there is. not in any kind of religious way...i think it's just more spiritual for me. the connection, and interaction between animals and their environments. the appreciation for what is already here. it sits well with my soul.

it looks like a perfect reading nook.

this may

just be my new favorite color palette.

{found here}

there is something subdued yet still a bit sassy to me.

or, like my favorite wine description ever: subtle, juicy, yet complex.

like me i think.

these

are calling my name.especially that black velvet. and the gold lame.

not for

my home (or future home really), as i'm going for a more classic library, hopefully complete with a rolling ladder.

but i do like this.

with the

arrival of cooler weather:

scarves. one of my favorite accessories. ever.snood, available at asos.

also. snood? what a great word. i would like to incorporate it into my daily lexicon. maybe when someone is snotty and rude?

one more thought. what's better than a pretty, soft looking snood? a pretty, soft snood made by your mama. with love knitted in.
